Purse Seiners In The San Juan Islands

Our friends from Portland arrived this morning via ferry for a short stay overnight with us. We had a nice walk around Roche Harbor, lunch on the deck, and then headed over to Prevost Harbor, about an hour from here. Just as we left Roche Harbor, we ran into at least 4 different purse seiners, all using nets to catch the salmon. So we stopped and watched the operation...and I thought this was a great photo showing what they pull in. The salmon are plentiful right now. To learn more about purse seine, visit HERE!!!

Then we headed over to Prevost where we had a wonderful crab cake dinner. The sunset was beautiful!
