Parque De el Retiro

We were tourists for the day. Got a pass for the hop on hop off bus, the best way to see the city. We got on and off and wandered through the old quarters of the city, the Plaza Mayor and the Parque de el Retiro. The Plaza Mayor is another central plaza in Madrid, and has been used for several events in the past including bullfighting, markets and public executions.
We spent most of the day in the Parque de el Retiro, the sun was blazing down, lucky there were several cafes/ bars for a light refreshment! The park is on of the largest and most popular parks in Madrid . The park was beautiful , full of sculptures, gardens and fountains.
To get out of the heat for a while we headed to the Marque de San Miguel, an indoor market full of tapas bars, a great place, a few hours later we headed back to the hotel. A Saturday afternoon can't get much better than this!
