Chair!

Not just any chair, but Ian Ritchie, the Chairman of Blipfoto!
I was at a fantastic event last night, Conversations from Silicon Valley, organised by Girl Geeks Scotland. It was a networking event for women in technology, with a really inspiring panel of women CEOs from California, talking candidly about their businesses and their challenges. There's definitely a different tone to the conversation when its mostly women there. Conversation at my table ranged from driving fast cars and the challenges of twisty roads in Italy (duck tape and wing mirrors featured) to how to deal with men who expect 'favours' from younger women in order to close the deal. Answer, tell your boss, who told his boss he's off the team or there's no deal.
Why was Ian at a women's networking event? Well, a men were allowed to attend too, though they were in the minority. He's a great guy, willing to share his experience with anyone that's wanting to start a tech business, and can always be found in the middle of a lively crowd of enthusiastic techies, of either gender.
