SPIDER REFLECTING
Experimented a bit today – I wondered what the underside of a bug was like, so I (gently) captured a spider and put it on a mirror. This spider was very accommodating and basically stood still long enough for me to click a few shots. The spider itself is fairly clear, but unfortunately, his reflection isn’t as clear as I’d hoped - otherwise it’s interesting in a weird way. The legs don’t exactly ‘touch’ their reflection because the mirror is quarter-inch thick plate glass, and of course the reflection doesn’t ‘happen’ before it ‘touches’ the silvered backing of the mirror.
This is a small fishing spider – it is not considered aggressive and is not harmful to humans, so it wasn’t risky to use him in my photo shoot. I didn’t even have my blip assistant for this one. My excuse is Blip causes some people to do strange things. Since blipping (I blip bugs now & then), I’ve been intrigued at the intricate anatomy of insects.
