South Coast Scribblings

Centred in mono

This is the centre of a beautiful cream rose that was in a bunch of flowers given as a thank you for taking part in the memorial service for the sister of a church member today. I never met the lady as she had lived in New Zealand for many years. Her family members over here wanted a service that they could attend to remember her, which I thought was a lovely idea.

I was so pleased that I felt better today and was able to go to play guitar and lead singing for one of the songs. We also had the hymn "The Day thou gavest Lord, is ended" which always brings tears to my eyes when I think about everyone all around the world. For some reason "The sun that bids us rest is waking our brethren neath the western sky" just strikes a chord with me - it's my favourite line of the whole hymn for some reason. Perhaps it's more poignant now the internet seems to bring us all so close, and yet many of us live on opposite sides of the world!

Well, that's my thoughts for today! And I'm about to watch the programme on BBC4 with the John Wilson orchestra playing Hollywood themes - could be interesting! I loved the Rodgers and Hammerstein themed programme that he did about two years ago. I watched the Laura Robson tennis match earlier which I thought was disappointing to say the least. I think maybe her wrist injury is worse than they're letting on....
