MOTH WATCH
Thank you for all your kind comments yesterday.
Now is the time that I wish all moths – and birds for that matter – carried an ID card. Wildlife is so important to this world and my knowledge seems to shrink by the week.
I think this may be a Yellow Shell Moth – with his friend in the background to the right. However I am eager to be proven wrong if there are some experts out there.
What do I know - the wings are delta shaped, there was a group of five on these plants – so they must be common, the area was North Yorkshire UK, the antennae are long and thin, and they are day flying varieties.
I just like the shot and viewing in large shows his huge eye and closed tongue.
