50th Anniversary
Fifty years ago I was a thirteen year old and I don't remember the day that Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech. I have, though, watched the numerous changes in our nation since then.
My mother was raised in the south, in the state of Georgia, and she detested the prejudice that she grew-up around. She couldn't wait to get away from all of that. I can remember how strange the South seemed the few times that we visited my grandparents when I was very young.
I think lots of good changes have happened in our nation in the past 50 years. I know we need many more good changes, but today I'm going to celebrate all that was accomplished 50 years ago today.
