Carradale Harbour Moorings
One of the community business initiatives sitting under the umbrella of Network Carradale is the harbour moorings, which were put in place earlier this year. The idea is to get passing yachts to stop overnight and bring some trade to local shops and restaurants. Since they came into operation at Easter they have been well used and are becoming increasingly popular.
Today they were officially opened by our local MSP Mike Russell, better known to many blippers as Feorlean. The official party boarded our next door neighbour's yacht "Blue Tarn" which motored the short distance from the harbour to the moorings where a pick-up buoy was taken on board and and the boat secured.
Meanwhile, as the volunteer blipper, I had taken to the seas on a rib belonging to the local fish farm, which had kindly supplied the moorings. The photographs will be used to promote the moorings amongst the yachting fraternity. The light wasn't great but at least it was mild and calm!
PS - In case anyone is worried the gentleman behind Feorlean was only pretending he was going to push him over the side!
