Paper blipper blipped
The return of the yogini. (SOOC, cropped.)
The 'blipped blipper' is a paper sculpture from Indonesia holding a camera.
The woman with the sparkling eyes resplendent in red Indonesian batik is Jennifer, displaying her blipper gift. My yoga guru! Back from Indonesia a year early! My first private yoga session is already on the calendar!
A happier reunion could not be imagined. Leisurely lunch (spicy, vegetarian) in Chinatown followed by a visit to Laura Russo Gallery to see the Michael Brophy gouaches.
In Java, which is primarily Muslim (i.e., no graven images), there are few art galleries and people don't have art in their homes. Jennifer used to be a docent at the Portland Art Museum, so art was one of the things she missed. I sent her gallery postcards as CARE packages. One of her Indonesian teaching colleagues, Debe, especially liked a reproduction of a Sherrie Wolf painting. I took a photo of Jennifer today in front of some Sherrie Wolf paintings to email to Debe. Tamara, a Laura Russo gallerist, provided a wonderful set of Sherrie Wolf postcards for Debe as well.
All in all, a sparkling day.
