Balcary Bay

Today's the day . . . . . . . . for a Retrospective

Little did I know when I posted this in October last year, that the artist whose colourful paintings are shown here, would die very suddenly and unexpectedly, a few weeks later.

Caroline Hone was the artist and she was actually present that night when I was helping to get the new exhibition up and running, ready to be opened to the public the following day.  She was very friendly and encouraging to me as a new Trustee of the Harbour Cottage Gallery in Kirkcudbright.  And I absolutely loved her paintings that were full of colour and bold depictions of local landmarks.

Tonight there was a special preview of the exhibition that will run for the next two weeks, entitled 'Caroline Hone (1949-2024) — A Retrospective Celebration of her Life and Work'.  It's a heartfelt tribute to a remarkable artist whose vision, colour, and spirit continue to inspire.  The above is one of her paintings of Balcary Bay, on the Solway Coast ........................
