Silly Sign
Becky and Mike left early to go to the ParkRun in Leazes Park over in Newcastle... start time 9am. There were 328 participants. Mike finished in 17th place with a time of 20 mins 55 secs and Becky was 32nd with a time of 21 mins 56s secs.
While they were out Astrid and I had some breakfast, played games, watched TV and generally had fun. Becky and Mike had breakfast when they got home.
Then we drove to Winlaton Mill and went for a walk along The Derwent Walk - the route follows the bed of the old railway line beside the River Derwent.. There were lots of other walkers, a few cyclists and three ladies on horseback. Photo of Becky and me in Extras. ( we were overdressed as we thought it would be chilly )
Then we drove to Pedalling Squares.. a cafe in Swalwell for lunch/brunch. I had pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. Delicious and very "synful".
I spotted my blip shot here. A replica of an old sign of various rules which used to be seen in swimming pools many years ago. Thought it would fit the " Silly Saturday" theme. Thanks to 60plus10 for hosting..
When we got home Becky had a very long soak in the bath. Astrid watched TV and played. Mike and I sorted out a few things to take to the " tip". Mike had booked a slot yesterday. The slot was for 4.30pm. Mike said the place was quiet so there was no waiting around to get rid of my old stuff. I'm going to sort out some more for him to take next time he's here.
Later on we drove to The Fellsider pub where we had a table booked for 7pm. For my meal I had chicken, mashed potato, roast vegetables and Diane sauce. It was very tasty. After the meal Mike drove home with Astrid and I walked home with Becky.
We relaxed for the rest of the evening just winding down from a busy-ish day.
The weather was OK again. Warmish and sunny at times. Hopefully its the same tomorrow. The Great North Runners won't want it to be too hot or too wet.
