Badenscallie beach.
This is Badenscallie beach on the Coigach peninsula. Another lovely morning so we went to the post office to book the sail to the Summer Isles ( the boat man is also the post man!) to find it closed as it was a Bank Holiday but it isn't in Scotland!
So we gave him a ring to book for the afternoon. He said that he was hoping not to go out as the weather was due to change so we booked it for Wednesday.
The Summer Isles are a small group of islands ( you can see two of the smaller ones here) where Loch Broom meets the sea.
We stayed to look around Badenscallie Burial ground with predominantly Macleod families. Interestingly the wives were listed by their maiden names.
It remained warm and sunny so we sat outside the Piping College for coffee and home made cake before going to watch the 12.00 boat sail from Badentarbert jetty. The wind was getting up and it was starting to look choppy and sure enough by afternoon, though still sunny, it was blowing a hoolie! Mr Macleod, the boat man was right!
After lunch we braved the wind to walk along the cliff among the blooming heather, looking across the sea to Assynt with views of Suilven and as far as the Stoer lighthouse. A good blow and amazing cloud scapes.
Backblip yesterday.
