Morlaix railway viaduct

We broke camp this morning, packed up and set off on our bikes for Morlaix. I hadn't realised that our start was exactly the same as yesterday's bike ride, except this time we did it with full panniers!

After about 10 km of cycling we were drenched by a downpour and even hiding under some trees didn't really help - we got soaked. Both Garmin and Google had routed us on dirt tracks which are not adequate and then spent ages telling me to make a U-turn and go back rather than re-routing rationally the way I could see we needed to go.

After about one third distance the rain had stopped, the sun was showing it's face and we crested the ridge, and then we had the longest downhill I've ever experienced and for the next 25 km we went very fast down a pretty, wide and mostly traffic free D road into the centre of Morlaix.

We had lunch and then set off for our motel for the night - which was bad timing as we caught another cloud burst, but made it to the motel and were able to have a hot shower and put on fresh clean clothes.

Today's back blip is the iconic Morlaix railway bridge which dominates the centre of town, and is most impressive from a distance and up close as shown here.
