Le Champignon

Today we gambled with the weather a went for a walk to see some plutons. The main back blip is Le Champignon, which is the first one we visited of several and this one looks a bit like a mushroom only it's rather large...

It rained some of the walk and at other times it was dry - though the ground was wet and the water would still drip off the trees. The walk was just under 20 km though we probably added at least 1 km with navigation errors as it's hard to know exactly where you are even with a GPS and a map when you are in a forest full of paths all going similar directions...

We had lunch under a shelter at one of the forest notice boards, where the extra was taken.

At the far end of the walk we visited the mining museum, where the explained how the mined lead and silver at the mine and why all the water was diverted by canals to power the mine - and how all the trees were chopped down to smelt the metals - which did explain why the forest was relatively modern.

After visiting the museum and almost getting dry, we set off for the return and were broadsided with the worst rain of the day, and got thoroughly wet - my Italian boots finally gave in and my feet got wet... The rain was at least warm, so we didn't get cold - just very wet...

Felt much better today - so the fruit helped and whatever was up with me had gone away.
