After the Rain...
We had several hours of much-needed rain last night, leaving the garden decked out in rain drops this morning. I'd found a few more monarch chrysalids in the garden yesterday, so I thought I'd grab a camera and grab some shots before the droplets were gone. One more (different chrysalis) in Extra because I couldn't decide which one I preferred. I went with this one as the main because if you look at it closely you can see the pattern of the butterfly wings faintly through the "shell".
Several monarchs in the garden emerged this morning and I was able to watch both of them eventually lift off into the sky - always magical. It's been a very successful year in the garden for monarchs. Usually the Tachinid flies take a toll but for some reason, very few caterpillars seem to have been parasitized by them this year. Not going to question that bit of good luck.
I've done some laundry and housework this morning as well as some gardening. I really wanted to dig some more things in the garden up, but want to preserve my hands for tomorrow's dog event. The forecast is now showing rain starting mid-day so I've put rain gear in my camera bag. The Trial will go on regardless of weather, and so shall I.
Having zoom cocktails (mocktail for me) with my besties tonight and then Hubs will grill up some burgers for us. Hoping to get to bed early as I need to be out pretty early tomorrow.
xoxo
