Green woodpecker
This green woodpecker has been visiting our lawn all week, so today I finally managed to get a photo of it. Green woodpeckers are the largest of all woodpeckers that breed in Britain. I quietly opened the door to the patio and tiptoed outside to get as close as possible without scaring it off - I was still some distance away but at least it was better than shooting through thick double glazed windows. The bright green grass doesn't help to show off the bird's colours, I did try to desaturate the grass a bit but I cannot change the way it really looks.
I spent the morning preparing lunch. Usually on this Friday after my birthday I get together with two of my close friends for lunch in Guildford, but my one friend is still away on holiday and I thought I would prefer home made food to a Guildford restaurant. I made a variety of salads - beetroot, goats cheese asparagus and walnut salad, quinoa salad, tomato caprese - served with parma ham, hummus, bread etc. It was just my one friend, Gavin and I for lunch so there is lots of food left over.
Tonight it will be a lazy evening, watching some TV.
