The Breakaway
They didn't stay away!
The Tour of Britain came through Kineton today - all the fun of a cycle race on a sunny day. My blip is the break away, four riders who have made a jump away from the rest of the racers (the peloton) and have a 3 minute lead. They were caught (the break away usually is) before the business end of the race on the local hills at Burton Dasset. However, they did their careers no harm, had their sponsor's logos on TV for several hours ... and ... on Blipfoto! The TV camera bike is at the back of these four, so perhaps I'll be on the highlights programme tonight, the live programme went to an advert break just as they were passing through Kineton, and the church grass was cut this morning too!
In the extra, three of the peloton going by, just to give an idea of how close the crowd can get to these races. In the middle of the three, you can see Geraint Thomas (white sunglasses frame) who is retiring at the end of the final stage of this race. There have been plenty of Welsh Dragon flags out along the course to support him. In the right hand frame, Julian Alaphilipe (black shirt) who is a crowd favourite, especially in his native France.
Edit: at Sheol's suggestion I have opened up the crop on the left to allow more space for the leader to look/move into, original now in the extras. Also added one of Gill's iPhone shots which shows a view of the general scene. Including the playgroup who had a trip out to see the race :-)
and now - back to packing the motorhome - oh joy!
