KEFALONIA DAY 5

THIS WAS 2ND SEPT!!!! Blooming WIFI!!!

We left at 9 and travelled across the island for 30mins to Sami. (In my blip from my last visit to Kefalonia I had written how lovely AntiSamos beach was…we decided to find out why!)
#It was a wide bay with such clear blue waters and the sun beds were free if you ate/drank at their restaurant so we stopped for breakfast. We didn’t go in for a swim but it was so tempting. I tried to do a film of the view but S was calling out “I’ve been stung by a wasp!!” So my filming was of my feet and the pebbles!!!!! AND she hadn’t even got stung. Does that woman not understand the importance of photography!!
#We then drove to Mythos beach where they filmed Captain Corelli Mandolin. We didn’t go down as it’s a very windy road and there was only a basic cafe (from what I can remember from years ago!!)
#We saw Assos from the cliffs and had this photograph taken of the 4 of us.
The Rev wanted to revisit it so we went down. It’s pedestrians only and it’s very small but nice to wander around. We stopped for a drink and ice cream.
We didn’t want to stay any longer as we were eager to get to Fiskardo…it ended up being a slight disappointment.
We were hot and bothered.
#The beach was only a little bay and there were no beds or umbrellas. We set up “camp” under a tree and went for a swim. Once we were cooler we could reassess our opinion. It’s lovely by definitely overhyped !!
#After about an hour we had a walk around the pretty harbour that’s filled with tavernas. Some very pricey!!
We chose a good one near the end of the harbour and were entertained by rather funny drunk English people on a massive yacht. They were having a good singsong and we joined in a bit!!!
Our food was delicious especially my seafood souvlaki. By the time we had finished our meal the lights were coming on and it did look lovely. For us it was the memory of where our sailing adventure was planned.
#Our journey home took about an hour and watching the colours in the sky at sunset was beautiful. Καληνύχτα
