Endings and beginnings

As I got out of the station at Southwark I remembered someone saying ‘don’t get out at Southwark for Southwark Cathedral’ but I enjoyed the walk up through old streets and alongside Borough Market.  I even dodged the showers but still got to use my umbrella once later on which made it worth carrying. 

Unfortunately I missed some of the speeches for Barry Day’s memorial event at the cathedral library but was there in time to see my niece Clio read the poem that Barry wrote for her christening.   She read it beautifully and spoke warmly about her connection with him.  Some of those who got the mike had clearly not had a mike handed to them in a while and made the most of it.  I was glad I was there. More canapés - I’m on a run of canapés.   

In extra a picture of Ivy on her first day at school, not taken by me so didn’t want use it but I thought it would be a nice one to look back at.  She had such a good time that she staged a sit in on the way home and refused to move.  

We had a simple supper and watched the first episode of Atomic on Sky.  We won’t be watching any more…
