Hill Top Ramblings

Gwennap Head

It was a bright and breezy day between the showers so we headed to Porthgwarra and Gwennap Head. There was a really big swell rolling in to the cliffs and a strong westerly wind that pushed us off balance. We found some shelter to do some sea watching. There were many gannets and shearwaters zooming along in the breeze, and some fulmars. As we were getting our lunch out two Choughs took off and flew noisily around . They have a loud “Chough” call! You may be able to make one out in the thumbnail.
And there was a special expedition in the evening to the Savoy Penzance! Not a bang up meal, or a night in a luxury hotel….but a special 50th anniversary showing of ‘Jaws’!!  A small but enthusiastic audience turned out for it and we all gasped and jumped in the appropriate places, it is much more dramatic in large screen format!
