A grand day out....

Into the Chamonix valley today for one of the finest days out anywhere in the world. 
First the little red Montenvers Train and the shiney new gondola down to the Glacier. Magnificent and heartbreaking all in one. 
Then the Grand Balcon Nord to the Midi Plan and up the lift to the Aiguille. Fabulous to be able to point out to my oldest friend all the climbs I've done, tales he's heard before now given context. To show him where I've soared, failed and found my best self, to show him a world I thought lost for a whiles.

The knee will probably demand a recompense, but some prices are worth paying, some moments are priceless.
