A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE INCIDENTS
WHAT A DAY!!!
First of all as I was getting ready to go to Barrow this morning with Hubby and Garron to try and sort his phone out, I somehow turned and slipped whilst I had my camera in my hand and knocked it, quite hard - but it seemed OK - then.
So we got to Barrow in the pouring rain, went straight to the Mobile Phone shop whilst they were still trying to open and even then we were second in the queue. Anyway the assistant did everything she could think of and agreed with us it seems to have developed a fault with the microphone. Calls can be received and made but the caller cannot hear Garron, he can hear you but not the other way round. This now means we have to send it off. She did all the work for us, we just have to parcel it up and await for someone to come and pick it up and give us a returns label.
It was still raining but we thought we'd go via the coast road anyway and I would try and get some rainy misty shots. I got my camera out and this is when I discovered that it was quite severely broken!!!! The vdu on the back has smashed in a couple of corners and when you try to get the menu up you just get a white screen - instant panic. Not a lot I could do though.
This is the best photo I could take today, it was taken on our way back from Manjushri through a rainy and a bit dusty car window, so please accept my apologies for the poor quality. It is course The John Barrow Monument, otherwise known as The Hoad because it was built on Hoad Hill.
I tried another lens, just to ensure it wasn't a lens problem and, its exactly the case. So I did some research and discovered it would cost a lot more than the camera was worth to get it fixed. I'm going to try and claim on house insurance, but not sure whether I will be able to or not.
So I've done further research and am going to Wilkinsons in Kendal next week (I hope) to try and get a pre-owned Nikon Z5 camera, which is mirrorless and will require an adapter to use my current lenses, I think - I'm waiting for their advice on this. I really can't afford a brand new one and even pre-owned they're not cheap so guess what my Christmas present and next year's birthday present is going to be!!!!
I feel a bit like I've lost a limb as I don't feel right without my camera. In the meantime I will have to make do with the Samsun or our Panasonic Bridge Camera, if I can remember how to use it!!
So that's my rather eventful day. I hope you have all had good days, do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
