I struggled a lot to sleep last night. I've had a resurgence of the tinnitus in the left ear which bothered me earlier in the summer, but which departed as mysteriously as it arrived. I'd managed ok for the last few nights, but last night it got too much and so I ended up needing to use one ear plug in that ear, because I find that this muffles it reasonably successfully. Luckily it's not really bothering me during the day, as it's not that loud or strong. But I only got four or five hours sleep yesterday so felt a bit washed out this morning.

I had set today aside to work on my article and I did so with fair success. I can now see the end to it, but I don't have many more full days available for writing, so I will have to snatch hours here and there where I can, to get it to the point where I have a full draft so I can get some comments from colleagues.

Later in the afternoon, I spent some time on the peloton bike. I didn't end up going across to the supermarket as planned as it rained just as I thought of leaving the house. I was also a bit concerned to hear that there had been a suspicious death overnight literally at the bottom of the road on Great Junction Street. This meant that cars were queuing along Anderson Place (and blocking it) pretty much all day as the police have kept the road closed. I'm glad I wasn't trying to move around the city by bus or even by bike.

Mr A has been playing with some different approaches to bread, but he hasn't got what he wanted (focaccia) yet. The fact he accidentally bought wholemeal flour instead of white flour probably didn't help. None the less, the resulting bread was very tasty and quite light.
