summer heat lingers,
but fall is in the air and
in our fresh mornings

I was out the door at 7 making my neighbourhood chukars scatter in the cul de sac. They seem to run along on tiptoes, then take flight at the last minute. I caught these two in my neighbour's yard before they launched themselves upwards and on to the roof top.
At the bottom of the hill I made the turn to Tranquille hoping for some peace on this hectic day.
In the pasture lands leading to Tranquille the Canada geese are already forming up. They are gleaning in the fields where they camp out overnight. Several groups took to the air making all the noise they can manage.
I got my long shot of the farm and the wetlands pond before driving on to view the osprey nest. Two were on the nest. I believe these are this year's brood. There was a great deal of calling all around the area. I could hear some calls from far away from the nest. Perhaps the adults are coaching their brood. It will be time to be migrating. Are they ready?
I caught my mountains in the bleary distance. One really notices the wildfire smoke when the sun is at a low angle.
I'm home to finish packing and manage all the loose ends as one does approaching a trip. Tomorrow, we are off on the first WestJet flight before the sun wakes up.
