I read your books and talked for hours
We were up and downstairs for breakfast by 8.30.
Kippers. I always have kippers while we are here. With 2 poached eggs perched on the top.
It concerns me, becoming a creature of habit, I must learn to kick it up a bit.
We were out of the hotel by 9.30, ready for our walk around the island.
I like to know where the benches are, and I suggested to Himself, that rather than walk to the castle and around anti-clock wise we went clock wise. Method in my madness. No benches at the start, many benches at the end.
In previous years we always walk towards the castle and around. By the time we are half way 4000 steps - I am exhausted and lay on the grass, prostrate. This way, I figured, I would be good for the first 4000 steps Then we would have the hide (to watch the birdies) and then it would be nearly bench city.
I did it! Himself was most impressed with my determination. He said I didn't stop half as much as last year. It's quite difficult though when your knee is aching. but keeping going seems to keep it happier than standing.
Himself had an issue. Just at the half way point, the sole came away from his boot, and as we cursed it, and prayed that it would hold on until at least a path, the bloody other one went too. He was distraught. These boots have taken him up Snowdon, Ben Nevis, and Scaefell Pike. Up and down ben Lomond, and the Merrick on numerous occassions. He was bereft. about 3/4 of the way he believed that he would be able to stick them down and repair them. By the end, not so much.
Gertrude's garden was already all pruned and ready to settle down for the winter. No seed pockets to pocket. No beautiful scented blooms. Is still beautiful and a perfect sit for a drink and a biscuit. Which we did.
Then it was down through the fields, and across to the harbour and back to the hotel. I proclaimed that death was soon to follow if I did not lay down and partake in coffee. Himself sorted me out, and then I dragged myself back up - and took off my boots (still which are in excellent nick), and we wandered round to the Ship.
It was stowed, but I was able to get out the back, and nab a table whilst himself queued for 14 minutes for a G&T and a pint and two crab sandwiches.
We enjoyed a good hour of people watching and cloud watching, before cmmencing our wander back to the hotel, by which time I had clocked up 10,000+ i went to the hotel, whilst Himself wandered to the market stalls by the car park. I visited the Mead Shop, and the Priory Shop and wandered the graves.
I also wandered to the beach and was blasted to bits by the high winds.
I met up with himself at the hotel gate and we grabbed a drink and went and sat in the Beer Gardern. These clouds drifted past us on the horizon. Over and over. We very very lucky to miss the rain - and sat quite happily in a little garden full of sunshine.
After another drink we headed upstairs for a nap before dinner.
Tonight we went with main and dessert only! Fish and Chips for him, Lobster and chips for moi.
Nom Nom.
Sticky Toffee Apple Pudding with Clotted cream for after. We were stuffed. Upstairs and in bed, by 10.
Walking makes you uber tired.
