High Key Image...
...on a low key day. Another walk up Los Alamos Road before it gets too hot. The high key image is surreal but so is the heat. I hate those power poles which were all put up at the same time. A man had been working on a septic system on his lot below them but those poles rendered the lot more or less useless as a house site as there's no room between them for a driveway. I asked a friend of ours who used to work for PG&E and he said they had the right of way along the side of the road and could build whatever they wanted.
Inspired by Tryfan46, I ordered a light box and got down several boxes of slides taken back in the day when that is what one did with photos. Now they are useless in slide form as we don't even have a projector...like those old VHS tapes we have gathering dust on another shelf. Going through old slides and deciding which ones to keep and convert to digital form seemed like a fairly good way to spend a hot day indoors. Once we winnow out all the bad ones, we'll have to decide on the best way to digitalize all the keepers. There are a lot of scanners that do this and send the results to the cloud, which seems like the best approach, but a glance at scanners tells me that one can pay anything for one and I don't feel qualified to choose. Yet another question for Jim...
Another brief political note: Our governor, Gavin Newsom, has become something of a hero for me. I think he's a total opportunist and talks the talk better than he walks the walk sometimes, but I think he has figured out how to use social media to troll Trump's manic middle of the night all caps posts and has called for a ballot measure to gerrymander California to counteract Texas' move. It's causing controversy from some who say that it goes against established practice, but I'm all for fighting fire with fire and doing whatever it takes to get rid of this dangerous man.
I'm willing to support anybody who is willing to stand up to the man and has the clout to make a difference.
