Godolphin Hill

I was always intrigued by the name when we visited this area! Godolphin House was the home of one of the most important mining families in Cornwall, from the 15th century onwards. They were the first to use the Newcomen Steam Pump to remove water from the tin and copper mines, making them far more productive.
The estate is looked after by the National Trust and you can walk to the top of Godolphin Hill, where there are fine views to the sea , and you can see River Valley Country Park down below.
We had a good walk, then spent the evening with the family, playing a fun game on the Wii, which Wendy won!
