Big Day Out (v9)
I took the train to and from my Parkrun this morning - 6 minutes each way from Glasgow Central to Queen's Park (£2.60 return) on the south side of the river.
Queen's Parkrun was my challenge this week. What a beast. 90% of it is hill with just a wee 200m stretch on the flat. All those training reps up and down the Killer Hill in Kirkcaldy were for a purpose.
I lived very close to Queen's Park for 5 years in the 80s so it was a trip down memory lane. A very pleasant one.
My Blip is Queen's Park railway station. It has changed very little in 40 years. One Extra is the start of the Parkrun. That church opens to let runners use its toilets before the start, and to buy tea, coffee and cakes afterwards. An excellent facility.
The other Extra is the Wee Windaes in Ayr. I went in to shelter from the rain in between arriving in Ayr and going to see Queen's Park play at Ayr United. It seemed like a friendly place.
We escaped with a 1-1 draw. We rode our luck.
