Cheers

I went to an 80th birthday lunch today at the village hall. There were about 100 people there, from various clubs, societies and committees that the birthday lady is on, plus her family and old school and college friends. 
It was a lovely occasion and an excellent lunch (provided by caterers). 
This couple are not "a couple" - they just happened to sit next to one another and didn't know each other before today.  I play table tennis with the man, and his wife belongs to the local Quilters Society along with the birthday girl. The lady is a friend from pantomime and she's also on the Hall Committee (along with me) , so I knew both of them before. 
The rain hasn't stopped since late morning and is pretty heavy.
