Drying up

After a warm summer’s morning at last we have some rain. Not a heavy downpour but ‘ good’ rain.
However it will take a lot to fill the village pond.
I can’t remember seeing it so low.
There was a notice pinned to a tree ( see extra)
It helps explain part of the problem which is because of a leak. Being seen to by Yorkshire Water. Also interesting information about the mallards. 
Today I counted 28 of them which all came flying/ swimming across the pond when I got the food out.
Quite surprising as the water is so low. Probably some other ponds are now completely dried up and they know they are well fed here.

The rain should help the fires on the North York Moors, which have now been put out at last.
