Dovecote, Chastleton House

“Some like to believe it's the book that chooses the person.”
Carlos Ruiz Zafón
The big day today, so after the obligatory cooked breakfast I eased my car out between the Ferrari’s and Porsche’s in the car park and headed back to Waddesdon for another look around the house, this time without the pressure of the time slot. Opted for the walk up through the grounds to approach the chateau from the woodland, the gardens were so colourful. K1 explored the house again then we met up to go around the grounds to explore their Chilli Fest - loads of stalls and stands, street performers, bubbles machines for the kids and young at heart, and music from the stage and an oompah band – lots of colour and fun. We’d spent a couple of hours here yesterday so by early afternoon it was time for a change of scenery and we headed for Chastleton House, a Jacobean house owned by the same family until 1991, so it’s a time capsule spanning about 400 years. Fortunately the downpour was over by the time we reached there for the walk down through the fields past the dovecote. Had to go next door to the church for my cake, then chatted to a friendly brummie couple on the way back up. Another two hours back before settling down to vegetate in front of the TV to watch ‘The Thursday Murder Club’. zzzzzzzz
