Derelict Sunday
The orchids started blooming 11 weeks ago but are on their last legs now.
I had the opportunity to see my cousin Maureen today as she was visiting her daughter here in town. What I wasn’t expecting was to also see her whole family from interstate as it was her husband, Bob's 80th birthday a couple of days ago. He didn’t know they were coming either. They have 10 grandchildren 3 of whom I hadn’t met before and they are now off at university. It was so great to catch up with their 3 girls who I had a lot to do with when they were little and we all lived in Dubbo. They were just a bit older than our kids. You should have heard the noise of everyone talking. I admit to breaking the diet as I had to join in the birthday cake celebrations.
We had the worst weather this morning for the whole year. Cold and very windy. I bet there is some damage around the SE of Australia.
Had a lovely catch up with daughter Cathy this morning. She lives in Sydney and was telling me about the park across the road being transformed in readiness for the Sydney Marathon tomorrow. 30,000 are entered to they were putting in hundreds of toilets. I guess all the entrants will want to do a nervous wee before starting, not to mention the families and volunteers. Hope they get a good day for it.
My tidying up job was to go through some old magazines. The first I picked up was a 1998 Gardening mag, I put it in the bin. I doubt even people at charity shops would want any that old.
Now to get dinner ready.
