Lone Toadstool on the path
Just a couple of minutes after I saw this toadstool I bumped into a couple of tourists who looked very out of place and who were getting lost, after a bus driver had dropped them off at the wrong end of Upper Reelig/Reelig Glen. They were using their phone for navigation, but following an unmarked path, in an attempt to get back to where they wanted to reach. They were actually heading in the general direction of a steep wooded bank that I had earlier scrambled up with my dog (one of our normal routes, but not recommended for going downwards, which would have been the case for them!) The sensible and easier route back to the main carpark at the start of the Glen was too difficult to explain however, so I decided I should offer to walk with them there myself. Thus we ended up having quite a long conversation and chatting about their impressions of Scotland (which were very positive). They are both from Dubai (a mother and daughter), although the daughter is in her final year studying Medicine in London. They were both really nice....neither of them had ever been to Scotland. The lush wildness and peacefulness of our surroundings was obviously quite a change to what they were familiar with. It was bizarre to bump into them in such a remote part of the wood, and interesting too to talk about our quite different lifestyles!
