My boss is something of a closet train nerd.

He is also an exceptionally well-travelled train nerd, so when I made it known that we were coming to Norfolk for a few days, he got quite excited and enthusiastically recommended that we take a trip on the North Norfolk railway.

Fortunately, his recommendations are usually pretty good and this one proved to be no exception. We had a little bit of a mad dash to get there due to some poor timing on my part, but we made it to Holt and caught the train to the lovely seaside town of Sheringham.

There we picnicked and wandered and chatted and generally had a nice time. If the last few days have been representative of water and wind, I’m going to say that today - given we travelled under the power of steam - will be our fire day (extra).

We even squeezed in a second beach at Trimingham (which was largely empty) and then finished our day in the pub.

Absolutely fantastic and not keen on coming home just yet if the truth be told…
