Varieté

A mini holiday in Malmö, Skåne, in the south of Sweden.

My friend Martin, who also appeared in the Weijts show you could see a blip from last week, is performing in Malmö for two nights. Four of my friends and myself decided to come to his show in Malmö to surprise him. The show he’s performing in is called Varieté Vauduvill, a show that started many years ago and has continued with various actors through the years, tonight with four actors doing everything in the show, music and artistery. It’s a love story to the old market place varietés withe magicians, sword eaters comedians and fire eaters that you could find touring the countryside many years ago. The show is so lovingly performed by these aged men, who can still do the necessary tricks to impress the audience. We had a most lovely evening in an old circus tent with cheap chairs for the audience, a cheap stage and cheap acts made to impress us and make us laugh a lot. The blip shows a little snippet that makes you understand the type of performance.

We stayed in a posh hotel in the middle of Malmö (view from 20th floor in extra) and will be going home tomorrow. I’ll roam the streets of Lund tomorrow before leaving for Kalmar in the afternoon. Why don’t I do these trips more often?
