Thursday: Red Leatherette

With many eyes rightly focussed on Gaza I woke this morning to the news of heavy bombardments overnight in Kyiv.  In my pre-blip days I lived there for three years between 2001-2004 so feel affected by what’s going on.  The British Council, a building I know well, was severely damaged and will be closed indefinitely.

On a more positive note we were outside the house today when an older man pulled up in the street, peering at our house closely.  Turns out he used to live here, when it was two flats (it’s now a house).  He said the kitchen ‘out back’ had a dirt floor.  There were so many things I wanted to ask him about when he lived here, who lived in the other flat etc but he was deaf as a post so the conversation didn’t really progress.

Anyhoo, this post marks the changing of the seasons.  Our pub crew congregated this evening and we are now back inside, rather than in the garden.

It was particularly nice to see Rocknerd, as we exchanged two plastic axolotls for some chicken wire………
