Settling in for the night
On the way home from work at the end of my four day working week, and in the car as trains were not running, I paused for a half hour walk with the Pentax. A small group of Spoonbills (Kotuku Ngutupapa) were roosting in trees and shrubs on a small headland poking into the lake at Western Springs. Inaccessible for humans and dogs. Although numbers vary and there are times when I see none of these large birds, they would appear to have established a colony here. When I started in blip, Kotuku Ngutupapa were a usually solitary rare visitor. They make a wonderful sight, especially in flight.
