Harvest madness
Today was our final day at home before we head off to England and the South Downs Way.
I spent most of the day harvesting berries that would be well past their prime by the time we get back. Several blackcurrant bushes, all the raspberries canes, and then the blackberries were picked over.
The raspberries are on their last gasp so everything I picked went into breakfast - what a treat. The blackcurrants were perfect and most went into the freezer. Blackberries are just coming up to their peak. I picked everything that was ripe or ripe enough to come loose with a small twist. There are still hundreds of berries on the canes so we advised a couple of friends to come by and pick however many they want in the next ten days. I hope they are still going when we get back.
The evening went to packing and midnight found me buying train tickets for various journeys around the country.
I slept very well when I got to bed!
