Hollyhock drama
The picture doesn't have so much to do with my day, though it was taken today when I was out in the garden picking most of the blackcurrants. I just rather liked the image!
We were in town today getting eyes tested and choosing new glasses. While there we met up with Rose and went out to lunch. Sometimes it's nice to eat out!
Once home the rest of the afternoon went to picking a lot of the blackcurrants, and sorting out the bushes that had gone wild in a similar way to the redcurrant bush. I think some heavy pruning is going to be needed after several years of neglect. (Jan was doing an amazing, and much more energetic job of cutting all the lawn the robomower doesn't cut!)
The berries are now in the freezer on a number of trays. Once the berries are frozen I'll packet them up and store them in the freezer until we need them later in the year.
Yesterday I wrote about the slight shortcomings of the camera phone, as compared to a real camera. I got a rather nice picture of a butterfly using the zoom function. As if to prove me wrong today, a similar butterfly landed right next me, on the window shelf as I was going in the door. It sat there as I got closer and closer with my phone, taking pictures, and the result is the extra. It's not as good as the camera shot but the phone did do pretty well!
Now I'm off to do my packing for our upcoming trip...
