The Lozarithm Lens

Horton Bridge (Thursday 28th August 2025)

I made the mistake of approaching Devizes from the Bath Road on the west side, so spent about 20 minutes nose to toe with a load of traffic to get to Morrison's. After that I went on a further seach for the eight cygnets, parking at Horton Bridge.

I expected them to be on the stretch between there and the Bishops Cannings Bridge and set off in that direction, however a boater told me they, without their parents, had swum past his boat half-an-hour earlier, heading towards Devizes, so I turned around, hoping to catch up with them. I was almost at Coate before I gave up and sat down to have my picnic lunch.

I took a couple of Extras on the return walk, and reached Archie before it began to rain.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Young Marble Giants - Searching For Mr Right (Peel Session) (recorded 18 August 1980, Maida Vale)
Sounding completely unlike anything punk when they appeared in 1979, or indeed anytime before or since, the Young Marble Giants first released this song on a compilation and then on their 1980 album Colossal Youth. I was reminded of this classic John Peel version when it was played on Radcliffe And Maconie this weekend.
