Lynne amused by the sign

Today has been very relaxing. Lynne arrived at 10 and she drove us down to the car park by the river which meant we could walk the almost level path to Lady Bridge in the sun as at the moment she can’t do a hilly walk. Nor can I. She had open heart surgery at Christmas, and now there’s more issues being investigated. She is so admirably positive about doing stuff and not letting it all get her down.

We enjoyed our walk and conversation about books, families, health (or lack of it), Palestine, Trump, the Beyond Borders festival, China, holidays, gardens and more. On the path we met Jemma with her dad and baby in the pram. She’s such a lovely young woman - I was friends with her mum who died a couple of years ago. Further on we met one of the book group who told me a lot about Wear on Wednesdays when the idea is you wear clothes you never wear. (The only ones I never wear are because they no longer fit, not because they are formal gowns worn on cruises as hers are). She is hosting our group tomorrow evening to watch Netflix Thursday Murder Club. I said I was busy and now I will be if the car isn’t fixed as I’d not get back from town in time.

The morning sun gave way to dark clouds and heavy showers so I have continued with Nicola Sturgeon’s “Frankly”. I’m learning a lot. It’s ages since I had an afternoon on the sofa with a book I’m enjoying.

#2 daughter went to the theatre on her lunchtime walk to buy the tickets for the panto which I’ve reimbursed her for as it’s a Christmas treat for them and the children. But £220.65!
