Some Rain must Fall…..
They said it would rain but I thought I would get away with having no raincoat or brolly on my visit to the early afternoon Book Group meeting in leafy Morningside. I was wrong. It rained sooner than expected in leafy Morningside and I got wet.
It all started so well today- sun and warmth as I made my way to town to catch M&S as soon as it opened and come away with plums , peaches and cheese. I thought the bus home would be less busy but I forgot about the timing and the school children. The buses are still really busy even after many of the visitors have departed. With the big space needed for the batteries of electric buses there seem to be fewer seats available down stairs and there is a lot of strap hanging.
We discussed the book- ‘The Silence in Between’ set in divided Berlin after 1945 while we ate gluten free meringue roulade with raspberries. The way to go obviously! Our next book is Tracy Chevalier’s ‘The Glass Maker’ and I am the hostess with the least I would say. I will have to find a recipe for a gluten free cake that is fool proof to make.
I had time when I rang the doorbell of the hostess’s front door to blip these lovely white flowers beside the wall.
