The Courage to Flip
I love the project Julie Powell embarked on.
365 days, 524 recipes, 1 tiny apartment.
The movie opens in the States on Friday, and there was a fabulous article in the New York Times Magazine by Michael Pollan, (author of the book "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto) called Out of the Kitchen, Onto the Couch, How American Cooking Became a Spectator Sport, and What We Lost Along the Way. I'm sure the article was inspired by the opening of the movie, but it mainly talks about Julia Childs and her impact on his family as well as food industry and the way we eat in America.
"When I asked my mother recently what exactly endeared Julia Child to her, she explained that 'for so many of us she took the fear out of cooking' and, to illustrate the point, brought up the famous potato show (or, as Julia pronounced it, 'the poy-TAY-toh show!), one of the episodes that Meryl Streep recreates brilliantly on the screen."
"When you flip anything, you just have to have the courage of your convictions," declared Julia, which I think you could apply to anything you attempt in life.

It's inspiring.
Another drive-by blip.
Blip and run.
To bed.
So sorry for the lack of comments, and thank you for all of your lovely comments!
I got a pneumonia vaccine Friday and it's made me sick.
Sweet Dreams!
