Views from the London Office

(27/8/25)

WOW. Where to start with writing about this day? It's been amazing.

The alarm went off at 6, and I was ready to leave home by 7:40. Eileen very kindly accompanied me to make sure I got to 240 Blackfriars on time. We took a 138 to Bromley South, then a direct train to Blackfriars. I didn't expect to be seated throughout my journey.

I made it to the office on time and then finally met the team that I've been communicating with for the last couple of years, in person. The head of the team commented, "You're a real person, not just a floating head on a screen"!! :)

I couldn't resist stopping to take pictures of the views from the 14th floor. I managed to book a window seat, so it was easy to get a few shots. The morning passed quickly, and it was soon time to walk to a highly recommended Turkish restaurant for a team lunch. I enjoyed the less formal setting to get to know my colleagues better.

I walked to Southwark station with Lianne. She was heading to Greenwich, and I was heading to Covent Garden to meet with my cousin Rony, whom I haven't seen in years. It was so good to see him again and catch up on all that has been happening in our lives. We had to make our way to King's Cross to meet G on her train. There was some confusion on my part as to when G's train from Berwick got in. I thought it was 10:30 PM. Thankfully, it was closer to 9. What a relief!

The three of us had a coffee before we said our goodbyes. I hope it isn't several years before we see Rony again. It is great to see G as well - after three weeks! We managed to get to Hayes before midnight. David kindly met us and drove us home from the station. An incredible day with so much to be thankful for.

PS. I have to record that my colleague, L,  very kindly allowed me to put my laptop in her locker so that I didn't have it for the evening, or to carry it in on Thursday morning. What a star. :)))
