Painted the trellis I bought last week. It’s the usual slate grey - I much prefer that to the tan colour that the wood is stained . It’s a fiddly job as the wood is rough but didn't take as long as I expected. After that I started to make something to plant the marginal pond plants in. Before I went to Edinburgh i just put them straight into the water but they blew over whenever there was a breeze. I bought some waterproof fabric and made it into a long tube shape (open all across one long side) and filled it three half bricks, aquatic compost and four plants. I closed it with cable clips and lowered it into the pond. It seems to have worked- but no strong winds yet! Of course I stirred up the soil in the bottom of the pond, so have left it to settle before packing stones around and on top of the ‘planter’ to try and stabilise it some more.
After that I plant d some more ground cover plants before going inside for a shower and late lunch.
Caught the bus to town and paid the balance for the Italian holiday , and then met Ji at the Broadway to see The Thursday Murder Club. It was okay but I wouldn’t rush back !
