Acorn

This is a tiny acorn from a California live oak tree. Not my favorite oak tree as it has rather small, very prickly leaves, but it is one of about four different varieties that grow on our property. I just accidentally sent an entire entry off into the either, and am NOT going to rewrite it all but I will say that although acorn meal was made and eaten by California Native American tribes, a culinary experiment performed by my fourth grade class, which was studying California history, proved fairly conclusively that acorns are NOT edible. At least not according to a bunch of nine year olds....I put it next to a smallish tomato from our garden, which IS edible, mostly for scale, and because it was there...
