Hold on to your hats!

Like many, I would normally avoid travelling on a Bank Holiday Monday like the plague.

Weekend drivers being provided with an extra day to be out on busy roads is a terrible combination, but these were the dates of the holiday, so we got on with it.

You know what, the drive down was largely uneventful - sure, a little slow in some places - and we made it to our lodgings in good time.

It is a quaint, charming little place, adjacent to a small holding with a sun-drenched garden backing onto a glorious green field with woodland at its centre. Already m’boy has spotted a woodpecker venturing in and out.

There is also an area of hardstanding out the back, upon which we have already played numerous epic games of tennis that would not have been out of place at Wimbledon. It doesn’t matter who won…..

We also ventured to a beach just a short drive away and had a paddle in the sea, whilst eating some ice cream.

There was quite a strong breeze blowing across the sands, meaning that hats needed to be held onto, but it’s a small price to pay for the sun on your face and sand between the toes.

We have arrived.
