The town hall in Henley on Thames

After the wedding in Gloucestershire yesterday and a stay in a B & B I drove to meet my family in Henley on Thames.
I stayed in a very interesting old house which was furnished with lots of old furniture and had lots of very large oil portrait paintings like you might find in a gallery…..one was of a bishop. I asked the owner about them and he said his grandfather had been Bishop of Southampton a long time ago in 19C!

Henley was very busy today with lots of people around the river area. I had booked a family ticket for the adventure golf course for 10.30 (2 adults and three children) so we had no problem parking that early. The three grandchildren plus the parents( in pairs taking turns) enjoyed the course which had lots of little buildings from around Henley plus river and rowing references at each hole. I think we may go there again as there is also a good big playground and there are lots of good restaurants suitable for children in the town - today we went to Pizza Express. There is also an amazing large Oxfam bookshop there and several books were purchased - they also had lots of DVDs and LPs.

This is the Town Hall in the Main Street. I’m always impressed with all the lovely flower displays in the town when I drive through. Next time I may stop and find a walking trail to do as there are so many interesting old buildings.

I had a good journey home, no hold ups and now looking forward to a period at home after lots of travels in the last few weeks!
