Sammellahdenmäkki

Steinbock_Travels Day 57
Another beautiful day, we were on our way by 08.30, with the first stop at the UNESCO Sammellahdenmäkki burial mounds near Lappi. An absolutely beautiful place between the pine trees, lichen and heather, where huge granite slabs, which were one e the tops of little islands at sea, had burial mounds from around 1500 BC. A very quiet place to explore, just gorgeous blue sky, the smell of pine, and pretty lichen forests everywhere.
Next stop, another UNESCO listed place, the old town of Rauma on the coast. We went straight to an out of town Stellplatz at the marina, this time to pay for, 17 Euros, not bad. It was a cafe and family sauna where you could jump in the sea. We unloaded the bikes, and cycled into town. We parked the bikes outside the pretty stone church, and set off to look around all the beautiful old wooden buildings, there are around 500 I believe. One was a lovely cafe, with a yard behind where we enjoyed a good cappuccino, and a cake. After a couple of hours walking around in the bright sunshine, we got back on the bikes, and looked at the rest of Rauma. We had an early dinner out at a restaurant in a cellar. We were back at the truck by 19.30 and decided to do a washing load, windy and sunny, we could get it quite dry. It was a lovely place to sit on the deck and watch the sun go down.
