Backblip because I forgot to post this.
The highlight of our trip to London was to meet some of the family and see Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony where our granddaughter was singing with the Halle junior chorus at the Proms. Earlier in the afternoon we had enjoyed a wild west version of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s famous reconstructed Globe Theatre beside the Thames. Although neither programmes had initially really interested me we all thoroughly enjoyed them.
On the way across the Millenium Bridge we noticed “mudlarks” searching the river bank at low tide. Then there was plenty of time to wander past some very old buildings to the Borough Market which has been situated close to London Bridge for almost a thousand years and sells a wide variety of fresh food. The view looking towards St Pauls is from the Globe with the gate decorated with many of the plants and creatures mentioned in Shakespeare’s plays.
